CAREER CHANGE FOR PURPOSE & PASSION - MY STORY

Since leaving university I worked in Media and Advertising for 15 years, for global media companies including Time Magazine, CNN and 21st Century Fox and National Geographic. In my last media role, as an Account Director for National Geographic, I was living overseas and travelling all over the world with work.

Many people saw me as ‘living the dream’. As much as my job was fun and exciting in many ways, I always felt there was something else I was supposed to be doing with my time, something more meaningful, something that would be impacting other people’s lives.

The media world didn’t feel aligned with my inner values, with who I am as a person, and it never felt 100% right for me.

I watched an interview with Caroline Myss and Oprah Winfrey during that time; Caroline shared: ‘if you are doing something in your life that is not aligned with your purpose, who you are, your inner values, then you are ‘betraying’ yourself’.. Wow!… I realised that was me!! It explained this inner itch I kept getting from my gut instinct, that was trying to tell me to make a change in my life!

That change isn’t always easy, however working with a coach gave me the support I needed to go for it. Through coaching I was able to get the clarity I needed on what was my true purpose and passion in life. From that, I explored what that could look like for me as a career, and was supported to take action to make change and follow my passion.

A key thing that made this happen, was that my coach helped me to get over the negative inner thoughts and objections, which would have otherwise held me back! She motivated me and kept me moving forward, and it was such an interesting and empowering experience. Even if I hadn’t changed career I had learnt so much more about myself on the journey and how I wanted to live my life.

It is my passion now to support others on this journey.

As well as working with individuals in one-to-one coaching, I also speak and run workshops at one of the most prestigious theatres in the North West - Storyhouse Chester. Instead of that uncomfortable feeling I used to get, I feel so happy and excited before the events. It really feels this is what I am meant to be doing with my life.

I feel honoured to now be working with people to help them go through the same empowering process, and give others a chance to live their Purpose and Passion. Life is too short not too.

My core training is as an InnerLifeSkills Master Coach, an ICF (International Coaching Federation) accredited certification. I am also a fully qualified Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner, as well as a Practitioner in one of the world’s most transformative therapy processes: The Journey.
